This policy explains what GoSharp Global Services Ltd ("we", "us") collects through the Christian Singles app, this website and related services (the "Service"), why, on what legal basis, who sees it, how long we keep it and what you can do. We wrote it from what the app and its servers actually do, in plain language. Christian Singles is for people aged 18 and over.
Who is responsible for your data. GoSharp Global Services Ltd decides why and how your personal data is used, so it is the "controller" (in some countries called the "responsible party" or "data controller"). Privacy contact: support@christiansingles.zeeckgroup.com, subject "Privacy". We have not appointed a data-protection officer; this address reaches the person who handles privacy.
1. What we collect
| Data | Why | Who sees it |
|---|---|---|
| Email address (and your Google account identifier if you use Google sign-in) | Create and secure your account, send sign-in codes, support and account messages | Only us and our email and sign-in providers |
| Date of birth | Enforce the 18+ rule, show your age | Others see your age, never your date of birth |
| Sign-up confirmations: that you are 18+, that you affirmed you are a Christian and agree to the Community Guidelines, and that you accepted these documents, with date and document versions | Prove the rules you agreed to. A statement of religious belief is sensitive data (section 2). | Only us |
| Profile: name, bio, gender, who you are interested in, interests, prompts, what you are looking for, optional job, school, employer, height, pronouns | Show your profile and match you with people | Other members who can see your profile |
| Optional faith details: denomination, church name, a one-line faith journey, a short testimony and up to three prayer requests. You choose which, if any. | Show them on your profile if you choose, and let people tap "I prayed" on a prayer request (you see a count, never who) | Other members see your faith journey line, and your testimony and prayer requests only after our team has read and approved them (until then only you and our moderators can see them). They see your denomination and church only if you switch that on. |
| Groups: which groups you joined, the threads and replies you write, reports you make about group content, and whether you paid for a paid group | Run groups and keep them safe | Members of that group see your name and what you write there. The group's leader sees the member list (names only) for their own group. Our moderators if something is reported. Your membership is not shown on your profile. |
| Photos | Your profile, and to check photos meet our rules (section 5) | Other members; our moderators |
| Location: your device's position (if you allow it) and a rounded place name | Show people near you | Others see only a rounded distance and place name, never your position. If you choose a different city ("Passport"), that city is used instead. |
| Messages and photos you send; likes, passes, matches | Run chat and matching, and keep people safe | The person you wrote to; our moderators if reported or flagged |
| Reports and blocks | Keep the community safe | Our moderation team |
| Verification selfie (only if you choose to verify), with your consent | Confirm you are the person in your photos | Our reviewers. The image is deleted once review finishes; we keep only the decision and when it was deleted. |
| Device and technical data: device name, platform, push notification token, last-seen time, approximate country and IP address, app version | Send notifications, protect accounts, limit abuse | Only us and our providers |
| Settings and consents: discovery preferences, notification choices, AI-features consent, ad-consent choice | Respect your choices | Only us (the ad-consent choice is held by Google's consent tool on your device) |
| Support messages: your email, subject and message | Answer you | Our support team; our email provider |
| Safety plans (optional "share a date"): the trusted contact's name and phone or email you enter, the meeting place and time | Let a person you trust know where you are meeting someone | The contact you choose, through a link you send them. Please only enter contact details of a person who agrees. |
| Payments: what you bought, amount, currency, date, payment provider and its reference | Apply purchases, accounting, tax, fraud and disputes | Us and the payment provider. We never see or store your card number. |
| Voluntary gifts: the amount, currency, date, status and reference of a gift you choose to make, linked to your account | Record and thank you for the gift, accounting, refunds for billing errors and duplicates, fraud and disputes | Only us and the payment provider. A gift unlocks nothing and is never shown to other members; we keep no donor list. |
We do not use third-party analytics or crash-reporting tools in the app. We do not sell your personal data and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, other than the advertising identifier handled by Google AdMob for free accounts (section 7).
2. Sensitive data
Some of what you choose to give us is "special", "sensitive" or "special personal information" in the laws that apply to you: your religious belief (the Christian affirmation at sign-up and the optional faith details), and information that can suggest your sexual orientation (who you are interested in). Photos of your face can also be sensitive. We use this data only to run a Christian dating community, never for advertising, and we ask for it only with your explicit consent, which you give when you add it and can withdraw by removing it or by deleting your account. Faith details are optional and never required to use the app. You must not add anyone else's sensitive data.
3. Why we use your data, and our legal basis
| Purpose | Legal basis (GDPR / UK GDPR; the same ideas apply under other laws) |
|---|---|
| Run your account, profile, discovery, matching and chat | Performing our contract with you (Art. 6(1)(b)) |
| Show optional faith details, use the Christian affirmation, use "interested in" | Your explicit consent (Art. 9(2)(a)) |
| Location for nearby matches; push notifications; verification selfie; AI features; ad personalisation | Your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw in your phone settings, in the app or by contacting us |
| Keep people safe: reports, blocks, rate limits, photo checks, investigating abuse, protecting minors, fraud and security | Our legitimate interests in a safe service (Art. 6(1)(f)); where we handle sensitive data for this we rely on establishing, exercising or defending legal claims and substantial public interest where the law allows |
| Payments, accounting, tax, responding to authorities, child-safety reporting | Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) |
| Support, service messages, improving and securing the Service using aggregate counts | Contract and legitimate interests |
Where your country's law has other lawful grounds (for example consent or "legitimate interest of the responsible party" under POPIA, or the grounds in the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023), we rely on the equivalent ground above. We do not make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects by automated means alone.
4. Who processes your data (service providers)
These providers act on our instructions, under contracts that require them to protect your data. Each also has its own privacy policy.
| Provider | What for | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase (database and servers in Ireland, EU) | Database, sign-in, file storage, server functions | All the data above |
| OVH (server in Canada) | Hosts our admin site (used by our moderators) and this website | What our moderators see when they review reports and content; website request logs |
| Google (Firebase Cloud Messaging, Google Sign-In) | Push notifications; optional sign-in with Google | Push token and notification content; your Google account identifier and email |
| Google AdMob and Google's User Messaging Platform | Ads for free accounts; the consent form | Advertising identifier, device information, your consent choice |
| Google Fonts (app only) | The app downloads its typeface the first time it runs | Your IP address and device information, as for any web request |
| Resend | Email: sign-in codes, support, account messages | Your email address and the message |
| Groq | Automated photo safety checks and optional AI suggestions (sections 5 and 6) | Photos for the safety check; profile text for suggestions |
| Stripe, Paystack and Flutterwave | Payments and gifts | The payment details you enter at checkout, your email and the amount. They are independent controllers of those payment details. |
We may also share data where the law requires; to protect someone's safety (including reporting child sexual abuse material and cooperating with authorities); to establish or defend legal claims; or in a sale or restructuring of our business, under the same protections. We will tell you before your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
5. Photo checks
Photos you upload are cleaned of hidden location data (EXIF) and published. We may also run an automated check by an AI service for explicit sexual content, graphic violence or signs a person may be under 18. A suspected minor's photo is hidden until a person reviews it; explicit or violent photos may be removed and then reviewed by a person. A model never bans an account on its own. We keep only the numerical scores, not a description of the image, and a moderator also reviews a random sample of photos.
6. AI features
If you use AI openers or compatibility insights, we send the public profile text of you and the person you matched with (name, bio, job title, interests, prompt answers) to our AI provider to write suggestions. We do not send your messages, photos, location, contact details or any of your faith details for these features. Suggestions are shown only to you. You can choose not to use these features.
7. What other members can see
Your name, age, photos, bio, interests, prompts, optional details, your faith journey line, your approved testimony and prayer requests if you add them (your denomination and church only if you choose to show them), a rounded distance and place, and whether you are verified. You choose whether to show your distance and online status in Settings. Matches can message you. Your email address and exact position are never shown to other members.
8. Ads
Free accounts see a full-screen ad from Google AdMob after every few profiles they swipe. Paid pass holders see no ads, and no ad is shown during a chat or on the sign-up consent, safety or payment screens. Google AdMob may use your device's advertising identifier to show and measure ads. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or another region that requires it, Google first asks for your consent in a form (Google's User Messaging Platform), and you can change your choice later in Settings > Ad privacy choices. You can also reset or limit the advertising identifier in your device settings. See Advertising Disclosure.
9. How long we keep data
- While your account is active: your profile, photos, messages, matches, settings and devices.
- Faith details: kept while you keep them on your profile. Deleting a prayer request removes it and its count straight away. If you delete your account, your denomination, church, faith journey, testimony and prayer requests are removed immediately, and the copy of any reported text is cleared (the report itself stays, without your words).
- Review before showing: a prayer request or testimony is read by our moderators before others can see it. We log which automatic check stopped a text (for example "looked like a phone number") but not the text itself. Text that is not approved is deleted 14 days after the decision; the record of who approved or rejected what, and when, is kept in our audit log.
- Groups: your threads and replies stay in the group while the group exists. If you delete your account you leave every group and what you wrote stays, shown as "Deleted user", without your name or photo. If you delete a thread or reply yourself, it disappears for other members straight away. If a group is closed, its content is no longer shown.
- Verification selfies: deleted when review finishes.
- After you delete your account: your login, profile details, photos, chat photos, matches, likes, devices and support messages are removed straight away, and stored image files are deleted shortly after. See Delete your account.
- Kept on purpose, with your name and contact details removed: purchase records (accounting and tax duties, normally 5 to 7 years depending on the country), reports and moderation records about the account (to protect others, kept for as long as needed for safety and legal claims), and security and audit logs. The other person in a conversation keeps the messages in it, shown as from "Deleted user".
- Backups: copies in our provider's routine backups are overwritten within the provider's backup period (up to 30 days) and are not used to restore deleted accounts.
- Server logs of requests and security events are kept for a limited time (normally no more than 90 days) unless needed to investigate abuse.
10. Your rights and how to use them
Depending on where you live (for example the GDPR and UK GDPR, the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, Botswana's Data Protection Act, South Africa's POPIA, Kenya's Data Protection Act 2019, Ghana's Data Protection Act 2012, or US state laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act), you may have the right to:
- know whether we hold your data and get a copy (access, and portability in a common format);
- have it corrected, or deleted;
- restrict or object to some uses, including uses based on our legitimate interests;
- withdraw consent at any time (this does not affect what we did before);
- not be subject to a decision based only on automated processing that significantly affects you;
- opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal data for advertising. We do not sell personal data; the advertising identifier handled by Google AdMob is controlled by your device settings and the consent form;
- not be treated worse for using these rights.
How: edit your profile and delete your account in the app; switch off location, notifications and ad personalisation in your phone settings and in Settings > Ad privacy choices; or email support@christiansingles.zeeckgroup.com from the address on your account with the subject "Privacy request". We may need to check it is you. We answer within 30 days (sooner where your law requires; we may extend by up to 60 further days for complex requests and will tell you why). We do not charge a fee unless a request is clearly excessive. If you are not happy, you can complain to your data-protection authority, for example: the UK Information Commissioner's Office; your EU country's authority; the Nigeria Data Protection Commission; Botswana's Information and Data Protection Commission; South Africa's Information Regulator; Kenya's Office of the Data Protection Commissioner; Ghana's Data Protection Commission; or, in the US, your state attorney general.
11. Children
Christian Singles is strictly for people 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. Accounts and photos that appear to belong to a minor are removed, and the data deleted except what we must keep to report abuse to the authorities. If you believe a child is using the Service, tell us at support@christiansingles.zeeckgroup.com or use Report. See our Child Safety Standards.
12. Security and data breaches
Photos are stored privately and shown to other people through short-lived links. Data is encrypted in transit. Access to moderation tools is limited by role, protected by a password re-check for sensitive changes, and every administrative action is logged. Sign-in uses one-time codes that expire. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach is likely to put your rights at risk, we will tell you without undue delay and, where required, the data-protection authority within 72 hours of becoming aware (or the time your law sets), and say what happened, what data was involved, what we are doing and what you can do.
13. International transfers
Our main servers are in Ireland (EU). Our other providers operate in several countries, including the United States and Canada, and you may use the Service from anywhere, so your data may be processed outside the country where you live. Where the law requires safeguards for such transfers we rely on adequacy decisions, the standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission (and the UK addendum) or equivalent mechanisms in our provider agreements, and your consent where that is the only basis available. You can ask us for details of the safeguards for a transfer.
14. This website and cookies
This website sets no cookies, has no analytics, and loads everything (fonts, styles, images) from our own domain, so visiting it sends nothing to Google or any other third party. Like any web server, ours logs the technical details of each request (IP address, page, time, browser) for security and to keep the site running. See the Website and Cookie Notice.
15. Changes and contact
We will update this page when our practices change and change the version above. For a material change we tell you in the app or by email before it applies. Contact: GoSharp Global Services Ltd · support@christiansingles.zeeckgroup.com (subject "Privacy"). If you live in the EU or UK and need to reach a local representative, write to the same address and we will respond.
